Structural features

The structure is steel framed and includes unique features such as: a 79-foot clear span story truss supported by two cantilevered story trusses carrying portions of the 3rd floor, 4th floor, and roof framing, a two-story theater with elevated balcony seating, a two-story height gym with 96-foot clear span bar joists supporting a green roof, a stepped rooftop courtyard for students, interior tiered seating in the main entry lobby and gym balcony, and a cantilevered tapered colonnade canopy. The upper two floor of the classroom bar are rotated relative to the building below creating cantilevers on 3 sides of the building and numerous column transfers. EB also performed the structural design for the site landscaping, including numerous retaining walls to create the sunken football field and running track.
